Episode 28: Internal gas pressure technology
The Underestimated Lever for Efficiency
“Gas-assisted injection molding is currently experiencing a renaissance,” says Domenico Scavello, Regional Sales Manager and expert in gas-assisted injection molding processes at the WITTMANN Group, in episode 28 of “Wir sind Spritzguss.” No wonder, since the technology is often an underestimated driver of efficiency.
Thomas Bergmann, Head of Engineering and Design at Bergmann Spritzguss & Formenbau, can only confirm this, even though the original reason for using Airmould—as internal gas pressure technology is called at WITTMANN—was quite different: the resulting high surface quality of the injection-molded parts.
In the podcast episode, Domenico Scavello and Thomas Bergmann discuss the challenges and opportunities of internal gas pressure technology—and, above all, their practical experiences.
Anyone wishing to delve deeper into the topic is cordially invited to WITTMANN’s Expert Day on September 10, 2026, in Meinerzhagen, Germany. The German speaking event will focus on gas-assisted injection molding—covering both internal gas pressure technology and physical foaming.
“Instead of two molds, we only need one and get a more stable, visually appealing part: Thanks to Airmould, we’ve clearly set ourselves apart from the competition here.”
